ABOUT THE TRUST

Hine Rangi Trust was established by Basil Longmuir Orr in 1972 with the primary objective being to benefit the farming industry and charitable purposes of the North Auckland region. With a founding bequeath of $5,000, and the gifting of a Basil Orr's 240 ha Tauhoa farm (on the shores of the Kaipara Harbour) the capital of the Trust amounted to $255,000 by 1973, when the farm was sold.
The capital was invested and the subsequent interest provided for the supporting of a wide range of research projects, farm trials, sponsorship and scholarships.

As at 2015, in excess of $1million dollars has been granted for projects over the life of the Trust and the original capital has grown steadily to enable ongoing support of the primary sector within Northland.

In 2014 a Lincoln scholarship was added
